Marie Fe Y. Lacsado, Project Staff at the University of Mindanao (UM), was recognized with a 1st Degree Diploma for her outstanding research presentation at the XXV International Forum “New Ideas of the New Century.” The forum’s opening ceremony was held on March 4, 2025, in-person at the Multifunctional Intellectual Center in Khabarovsk, Russia, and via teleconference.
The award-winning study forms part of the research initiative “Engineered Smart Concrete Utilizing Indigenous Wastes for Durable and Intelligent Infrastructure,” specifically focusing on papaya bast fiber–silica deposition. Student researchers Adrian C. Maningo, Faye B. Padernal, and Froilan Neil C. Peñero contributed to the project alongside the research team led by Dr. Chosel P. Lawagon, with Engr. Marie Fe Y. Lacsado, Engr. Randy Angelia and Dr. Crensencio Genobiagon are the project staff.
The initiative was further supported by science research assistants Engr. Roumel Salvador Alvarez, Engr. Crijamaica Ocena, Engr. James Mark Gallawan, Engr. Emmy Jill Funa, Engr. Jazth Manota, and laboratory clerk Justine Enfistant. The recognition highlights UM’s strong commitment to research innovation and its growing presence in international academic and scientific communities.
